Book Summary

A handsome psychotherapist. His lonely wife. And in his home office ceiling, a vent …

You’d listen too, wouldn’t you? (You know you would.)

Newlyweds Sam Statler and Annie Potter are head over heels, and excited to say good-bye to New York City and start a life together in Sam’s sleepy hometown upstate. Or, it turns out, a life where Annie spends most of her time alone while Sam, her therapist husband, works long hours in his downstairs office, tending to the egos of his (mostly female) clientele. Little does Sam know that through a vent in his ceiling, every word of his sessions can be heard from the room upstairs. The pharmacist’s wife, contemplating a divorce. The well-known painter whose boyfriend doesn’t satisfy her in bed. Who could resist listening? Everything is fine until the French girl in the green mini Cooper shows up, and Sam decides to go to work and not come home, throwing a wrench into Sam and Annie’s happily ever after.

Showcasing Molloy’s deft ability to subvert norms and culminating in the kind of stunning twist that is becoming her trademark, Goodnight Beautiful is a thrilling tale of domestic suspense that not only questions assumptions but defies expectations.

    “Hey there, heartbreaker.”
    (love this sentence)😂

Goodnight beautiful is a twisted, unpredictable, page-turner, brilliant and cunning book. It kept me invested throughout it. It’s divided into 3 parts which I liked and the fact that you get to read each person’s viewpoint was great. You might think you figured things out in this book but you couldn’t be more wrong. My excitement grew more after each chapter until I finally discovered what was happening! Wow! This book confused me so much. (in a good way) this was my first read by this author and I plan on reading more of her books. Even though I loved this book but not that I hated the ending I just felt like something was amiss and was kind of rushed through. I expected it to be something more thrilling?! (not sure but it was not how I thought it would end) ( speaking of the last chapter and the epilogue) aside from that, I would recommend everyone to read this book.

It’s rare for a book to shock me with its twists but I was fooled several times over by this excellent novel by Aimee Molloy.

    It went something like this:
End of part one: What the actual….? Did I miss something here? How did I not see this coming?
End of part two: Again?! Wow you really pulled a blinder on me, I was operating under a completely different assumption…
…and so it continued until the closing pages.

What I really loved was the brilliance of the writer in manipulating the reader’s assumptions and preconceptions and upending them at regular intervals. I confess to flicking backwards more than once in search of clues I had failed to spot that predicted the outcomes that left me reeling, but there were none, leaving me having to simply challenge the presumptions that I had hitherto applied to the story.

A book to devour in a single sitting, weaving in a nod to one of thriller fiction’s greats, if you haven’t yet read Goodnight Beautiful, what are you waiting for?!

I buddy read this with my two good friends Erin and Nicole. Thank you Olivia @thrillerbooklover for my #gifted copy

This is the story of newlyweds Sam Statler and Annie Potter who are head over heals for each other. Sam is a therapist who works long hours trying to help his patients.

This book is told in multiple parts. I thought the first part was twisty and had me thinking what the hell just happened? The second and third parts of the story were different then I expected it to be. I didn’t feel that those two were as dynamic as part one. I was expecting more out of the story then I got. There are a few parts that were confusing, and yet I was still able to figure out the reveals. Overall, I thought it was a solid thriller. Some parts were great, while other parts were just okay. I might have an unpopular opinion, but I would still love to discuss this with other readers.

This was one of my most anticipated fall reads, and I am happy to say that this one did not disappoint!

This is a great one to go in blind, so I am going to leave out the synopsis. Another book I’m going to say be careful of reviews you read, you don’t want to get spoiled. Just read it!

This book was so much fun. I flew through it in less than 24 hours. Ever read a book and you are constantly going back, because you wanted to make sure you didn’t miss anything? That was me in this book. There are multiple twists throughout and you are going to love the first one! I also found the ending very satisfying.

On a personal level, this book mentioned the city I live in, the city I get married in, and my favorite baseball team. I loved the Maryland shout outs, and I need to ask @aimeemolloy718 about these!

This is one of my favorite thrillers of the year, and I can’t wait to see more reviews on this one. I recommend this one to thriller lovers, those who love twisty reads, and Aimee Molloy fans. I got The Perfect Mother before I finished this one, I loved it so much.

This was such a fun thriller to read! 😍 Even though I’m an avid thriller reader, I still did not anticipate some of those twists. Overall, I loved this one. However, the ending felt a little rushed to me, but regardless, I’d still recommend this book.

‘m shaking my head but also smiling after I just closed this highly entertaining read. This damn book…. I’m actually super excited to go read all the reviews of this once I finish writing this one. I have a feeling that one big portion is going to be a love/hate for some readers. I personally found it super entertaining – though at one point I was wondering just HOW much of this was actually going to continue. Then it did a 180 of sideways (which translates to it still being sideways) and took you into a different direction. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you read this and if you haven’t read it yet, mark it and come back to me when you do!

This synopsis does little to tell you what this story is about. I actually went back to read it after I was done because that did not feel like the book I thought I just read … and I mean that in the BEST way. This is a super fun one to go into blind, which you basically are even if you have read the synopsis… ANYWAYS….. I loved all the little nods to a different piece of literature. And it was really a pleasure to see it progress from one type of thriller rolling right into a different type with the insanity escalating at a very fun pace. You’ll probably have to suspend a little bit of reality, which I really don’t mind doing.

I will say that I could’ve done without the epilogue. ⧓ A little too tidied up for my taste, but I also couldn’t help getting a little smirk on my face at that last line. Brilliant yet maddening for me! 🤣 Listen y’all, I appreciate the uniqueness of this thriller so much. I was absolutely entertained throughout the entirety of this read and there are some definite fun reveals that happen. Happy reading, friends!

Sam is a handsome psychotherapist that has recently moved back to his small hometown with his wife. Growing up in this town, Sam was the golden boy. Everyone loved him.
    .
Unbeknownst to Sam, someone has been listening to every word spoken between himself and his patients through the vent at his new office space 👀
    .
One day, Sam goes to work and never returns home…. 👀

    .
This book contains some clever writing- there are some “Wait… whaaaat?!!” moments. I had to stop and reread some pages to wrap my mind around it. And there was definitely some heart pounding going on!
