Book Summary
They called it a “walk away.” The car abandoned miles from home. The note found at a nearby hotel. The shattered family. It happens all the time. Women disappear, desperate to start over. But what really happened to Molly Clarke?
The night Molly disappeared began with a storm, running out of gas, and a man offering her a ride to safety. But when the doors lock shut, Molly begins to suspect she has made a terrible mistake.
A new lead brings Molly’s daughter, Nicole, back to the small, desolate town where her mother was last seen to renew the desperate search. The locals are sympathetic and eager to help. The innkeeper. The bartender. Even the police. Until secrets begin to reveal themselves and Nicole comes closer to the truth about that night—and the danger surrounding her.

Molly Clarke’s family has been spiraling down ever since Molly inadvertently killed her youngest behind the wheel, when her child stepped into the middle of the road. Molly’s 2 kids are often mean to her while her husband ignores her and has affairs.
•
Unable to tolerate the anguish, Molly thinks about leaving her family…for a minute. As she walks alone on a stormy night down the road, a trucker “Mick” stops and offers her a ride back to town, to which Molly consents and realizes how foolish her idea was. She can never leave her family behind.
•
Only the next day, Molly does go missing in the town of Hastings and a note is found with her signature that she has left her family for good.
•
Narrated in alternating chapters, one part deals with Nicole, the oldest child, relentlessly tracking her mother down in Hastings when a new lead comes up. The other chapters deal with Molly’s frantic realization that the trucker and his kid, Annie, are not trying to help her and she’s in imminent danger.
•
Now this is an absolute five-star thriller ride! The tension and atmosphere are set early on from the moment Mick locks Molly in. Another unique dynamic happens between Molly and Annie, the child who is both evil to Molly and victim to her father at the same time. This is a guaranteed page-turner leaving you wondering till the end who is really Mick among the unreliable cast at Hastings. This creepy book sets the tone for Halloween and is easily among my top 5 thrillers of 2020!!

This book made me a huge Wendy Walker fan! 🥰📖💕The characters are all so well developed, and the alternating POVs makes it super fast-paced. You’re kept guessing about who the antagonist is until the very end. If you haven’t read this one yet, it’s one you’ll definitely want to add to your TBR!😍

4.5 rounded up to 5.
This is my third Wendy Walker book, and it did not disappoint!
I don’t know why I didn’t get to this one sooner! I have seen so many glowing reviews, and I def agree with them! This story alternates in between a moms view point and her daughters view point. I was a little worried about relating to the mom, as I am not a true one myself. But the moms view point was the view point that I found more entertaining, and I had no problem relating to it. I enjoy Ms. Walker’s books, and I will definately be looking forward to her next one. This one did a wonderful job of keeping my attention.
Def give this a read if you like suspenseful domestic thrillers and mysteries. This one also makes a great buddy read, in my opinion, mysteries make the best buddy reads as you can discuss all the possible outcomes, this one was great for that.

WHAT IN THE HOLY HELL DID I JUST READ?! My third Walker and by far my favorite. I literally still have goosebumps all over my body from that last line and I can’t even tell you how many times my mouth fell open while reading this book. Hold on, I need just a moment to collect my thoughts……

Ok, WTF?!?!
.
.
.
.
Ok, I’m still not composed but whatever – let’s TALK ABOUT THIS BOOK. From start to finish, I carefully read each and every word. I sometimes reread certain parts because I was trying so hard to figure out who was what and where and this and that and … oh boy, I’m losing it again.
.
.
.
.
I am thoroughly impressed with how this was all put together. Every single nuance and red herring. Geebus – I almost feel manipulated! All of these characters are just WOW – some are so eerily chilling that I don’t know if I ever want to be around someone with that name ever again. EVER. AGAIN.
.
.
.
Words… I don’t have them. All I can say is that you absolutely need to read this. Like now. Stop whatever you’re doing and READ THIS BOOK IMMEDIATELY. I’m in a full on book hangover right now and don’t know what to do with myself. Where’s Nic? I need to go get a drink with her. She can have the vodka and I’ll take the bourbon. Please and thank you. Kurt, pour me a double!

4.5 stars
Molly Clarke just disappears one night. Her car is found abandoned and a note is found in a hotel saying “Don’t Look For Me”
.
The police tell her family she doesn’t want to be found, that this happens all the time. But her daughter just can’t accept it.
.
What really happened to her mother?
.
.
This story kept me guessing the entire time, which has been rare lately. I found myself holding my breath several times and my jaw dropping.
I alternated reading and audio- the narration is chilling on this one! I highly recommend it!
.
All you thriller lovers are going to want to grab this one! 🙌
